Older People

Firmly based on the belief that age should be no impediment to enjoying
life and community participation we offer a range of services to
older people from the active to the physically dependent. These can
be essential services to aid daily living or social supports to help
get the most out of life.
Our services for older people are funded by Woollahra Council and
the HACC program specifically
for people living in the Woollahra local government areaand surrounding suburbs.
Anyone from another area should contact their local Council to find out about
similar services in their neighbourhood.
Holdsworth offers centre-based programs for older people
including Discussion Group, Movie Matinee, Music Club, Yoga, day programs for
people living with Memory Loss and a Low Vision Friendship Group There are also Discovery Tours that
take groups out to some intriguing and fascinating places around
Sydney and Saturday Fever - dinner and/or shows. The latest Calendar for Discovery Tours and Saturday Fever is available here.
Shopping buses to either Edgecliff or Bondi Junction, with assistance
to carry shopping into your home, are very popular. For those who are less active,
or recovering from illness, we are able to arrange Individual Shopping Services.

We are able to use our extensive Community
Transport Program to assist
all our service users overcome mobility and isolation issues.
The Community Links program provides home visiting for frail elderly
people. We link volunteers with people who require extra assistance
and a friendly visitor who can provide companionship for house bound
community members or accompany more active people on local walks
or trips to local shopping centres.
This program encapsulates the Centre’s aim of bringing the
community closer together by creating positive links and relationships
between community members.
As with all of the Centre’s programs, we offer referral services
for support and assistance that may be offered elsewhere or by one
of our partner organisations.
